Our hosts from West Midlands Shooting Ground put on a very enjoyable and hearty breakfast accompanies with Tea and Coffee. Which was well received by all. It became very apparent and very quickly that the competition in the experienced group was fierce. The first half of the day there was 3 point between 1st an 3rd place. Mark on 44, Simon on 43 and Paul on 41.
After a quick tea break we were out again to enjoy ‘The Flush’. With quick reflexes and fast loading made for a very entertaining and surprisingly accurate shoot. Both teams scoring 73% and 71% respectively. Then it was off for the second half. Lets just say the first half of the grounds put us all in a false sense of security. The other 50 clays were not so easy. Mark managed to pull away from Simon and Paul managed to shoot his way closely behind Mark overall. Mark finishing on 78, Paul on 75 and Simon on 65. Jef Todd on 56, Jon Knight on 54, Carrie Booth on 50, Martin Barlow on 45
in the beginners class, with not shooting a shotgun in his life, Matt came 1st with a score of 37/50, followed by Jordan for 2nd place followed by Bruno (Matts father) coming in 3rd for the day. James coming in 4th. Clearly we have some natural ability in the Marinelli family.
The day was finished off with a an excellent three meat ‘Smoke BBQ’ with all the trimmings, along with some refreshing beers. The makings of a most excellent day.
We would like to thank out guests for coming. Jef Todd (Lindum Construction), Carrie Booth (BSP Consulting), Martin Barlow (Caterpillar UK), Bruno Marinelli (Hofton & Son), Jordan Kemp (JRD Design & Build), James Trusswell (JRD Design & Build) and Paul Appleby (Applepie). With such a great event, HPM shall be hosting again around the similar time next year.
